Informal Wedding Dresses for Beach WeddingsYour wedding dress is one of the most important items when planning a beach wedding. Like a traditional wedding dress it requires the bride to feel comfortable, beautiful and elegant but when the ceremony is going to take place on a beach it will also require a little more versatility. Here are a few tips and ideas for you when considering the purchase of this all-important item. You need to think very carefully about the length of the dress; sand is soft and with every step you will sink slightly so it’s advisable to forego the usual train and go for something shorter. A cocktail-style length is a good length; not only because it keeps the sand off your dress but also it allows for ease of movement, remember it’s not as easy to walk on sand as it is on grass or hard ground. Also avoid heavy beading or multiple layers as it’s going to be hotter on the beach than in a church. You may want to consider a simple fabric adorned with sequins, embroidery and maybe some crystals. This will have the benefit of making you feel free and at one with the environment not struggling to contend with it. Ideal fabrics include silk, crepe, linen and chiffon. Polyester can also work well but remember that it’s not natural and so may make you skin sweat a little. Beach wedding dresses tend to show more skin and so common styles include halter-tops and spaghetti straps and it’s not uncommon for them even to be backless or strapless. A beautiful accessory is a wrap to give added elegance and to protect against an unwelcome breeze.

Floral Beach Wedding DressVeils must be kept short because they become impossible to manage in windy conditions so you might want to do without one all together. Why not consider a tiara or ask your hairdresser to decorate your locks with flowers or a gem stone headband. Your hairdresser needs to see a picture of the beach wedding dress in order to come up with ideas for your hair that compliment the gown. High heels on the beach are treacherous and impossible to manage with your every step sinking into the sand. Instead you might consider sandals or even flip-flops. Going barefoot on the beach is great in principle but be aware that there may be broken glass on the beach. By all means go barefoot but keep some footwear available just in case. Tip: you can always change into some heels for the reception.

Choosing the color of your beach wedding dress is something that needs a little consideration. For example, what time of day are you getting married and will you already have a tan. If the ceremony takes place at sunset many colours turn slightly pastel and so therefore choosing an ivory gown might suit the occasion. There are so many things to think about when planning a beach wedding but getting your dress right is probably the most important. Have a great beach wedding!
